- бӯрё [büryo] n. mat
For example: I have no damn бӯрё in my bathroom right now. Now you may not think the lack of a bath mat was that important. In the grand scheme of things, it probably isn’t. When there is water everywhere all over the bathroom, however, and you almost wipe out three times, then it becomes a bigger deal. My innate klutziness I can’t really fix, but the lack of a bath mat, that I can.
Of course, I really wanted to share the Tajik word for “towel” with you, because I also don’t have one of those at the current moment, and however annoying it is to be without bath mats, being without a towel is exponentially more annoying. It takes a long time to drip dry from a shower, believe me, I know. Unfortunately, “towel” isn’t in my dictionary, which means I have an adventure awaiting me today when I go to buy one.
