In truth, “ülesandekäik” is the Estonian word for errand. That has nothing to do with Tajikistan or my trip, or anything really, other than the fact that I have been trying to tie up loose ends here before I take off, so errands have been on my mind lately. Figuring out how accessing my bank while abroad works (they increased my daily withdrawal limit today — thanks a million Cambridge Portuguese Credit Union!), hiring a property manager to deal with the tenants in my condo, getting my dry cleaning done, renting a storage unit, buying gadgets that I can hand crank in case power goes out, etc. etc.
While this is a teh dullsauce, in the back of my mind, I know that each item crossed off the list gets me a bit closer to the next adventure. So, there’s that. That and hand-cranked coffee grinds.
